Get Organized 2009

According to the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) January is Get Organized month. For 2009 the members of the Greater Manchester NH chapter of NAPO chose to volunteer their time to help The Anne Marie House of Hudson NH organized their storage room. Below you will find before and after pictures and an article written by the Hudson Litchfield News.

Organizers Help Families by Helping Anne-Marie House

For families experiencing homelessness, the Anne-Marie House often is the first step into a new living situation. During January, a group of ten professional women stepped forward to help these families by organizing donations that the House had received, which are important for a family that is starting over and needs the items for housing independence. This energetic and talented group of women were hard at work when the Area News Group was invited to visit.

Anyone who travels Lowell Road in Hudson can see the Anne-Marie House.  Now visualize the cellar of that facility full of furniture, toys, stereos, and televisions.  Now think about being in charge of organizing an area that size.  Well, these ten professionals were in the process of doing just that. With a donation from the Milford Rotary Club, shelves were being erected and items were being sorted and placed.

Who are these professionals?  All are members of the National Association of Professional Organizers who, as part of ‘January is Get Organized Month’, took on this project from Lorraine Falcone of Hudson to women from as far away as Deering and Fremont and from across the border in Lowell, MA.

Laurie Skibba, director of Anne-Marie House, said, “Donations, whether time, talent or treasures are integral to our success at Anne-Marie House.  For the first time, because of the expertise from the organizers, we will be able to efficiently and effectively process our donation; we’ll know exactly what we have so we can match up each donation with a family who needs that item.”

Anne-Marie House, operated by The Greater Nashua Interfaith Hospitality Network, a program at the Anne-Marie House, accommodates up to 24 people, where families experiencing homelessness are offered food, shelter, and supportive services.  Over 400 volunteers offer their time and talents to make the Anne-Marie House a “home” for now.
